PugetSoundOff.org was created in 2007 as a partnership between the City of Seattle and the YMCA of Greater Seattle.
PugetSoundOff.org is an online hub for youth-led movements and meaningful dialogue with peers and invested adults in the Seattle area. PSO offers a safe online space for youth and young adults to post blogs, photos, videos and audio to connect with their other youth, policy makers, teachers, youth development workers and other community members.
Between 2013 and 2014, I managed the development of a more simple and modern PSO, working as a liaison between the developer and staff, and creating all site features, graphics and layout.
Besides creating the online space, I developed curricula for internships that encouraged young people to speak out about their experiences with youth violence, teen dating violence and to promote healthy relationships. Using the award-winning Civic Voice Curriculum, I facilitated our daily lessons and supervised interns, equipping them with skills in media production, civic dialogue, storytelling and job readiness. I also created lesson plans for shorter-term workshops and in-school programming.
